Position: Athletic Therapist & Equipment Manager

Team: Merritt Centennials Hockey Club
Location: Merritt, BC

Job Type: Full-Time
Start Date: As soon as possible – Ideally right after holiday break

Key Responsibilities

Athletic Therapy

  • Provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for athletes.
  • Develop and implement individualized injury prevention and recovery programs.
  • Maintain detailed records of treatment plans and progress.
  • Complete all reporting requirements with the KIJHL League office as required.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to optimize athlete performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols during practices and games.

Equipment Management

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and inventory of all team equipment.
  • Coordinate with the team, equipment transportation for home and away games.
  • Ensure players’ equipment fits properly and meets safety standards.
  • Manage and order supplies as approved by General Manager, ensuring all gear is game-ready.
  • Support athletes and staff during practices and games with equipment needs.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Certified Athletic Therapist (e.g., CAT(C) or equivalent). Other certification will be considered, and support provided to obtain required certification as per KIJHL, BC Hockey and Hockey Canada requirements.
  • Experience: Preferred at least 1 year (season) in athletic therapy and equipment management, preferably in hockey, other sports considered as well. Organization to provide training and support as required in either/both Athletic Therapy and Equipment Management.
  • Knowledge of equipment standards and repair techniques for hockey.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evenings on game nights, weekends, and travel with the team.
  • Current first aid and CPR certifications.
